SEARCHERS
The "Searchers" is our Monday night group where boys and girls aged 5-11 are presented with the Good News of Jesus Christ in an attractive and meaningful way. We have an active and varied programme comprising of:- games, singing, learning Bible verses, quizzes and stories.
The children are from families who are not members of the church so we seek to build bridges with these families and invite them to other church services. We have over 60 children on the register who have been at some time since September with an average of 25 children each week.
Since September 2002 we have had stories based on the Fruit of the Spirit and on the lives of Moses and Peter.
In the coming months we will be working through Genesis from Creation to Jacob, then some stories from the life of Christ.
Our speakers are mostly men and women from our own fellowship with some from other local churches.
We hope to close the year in July with a visit from "JJ and friends" puppet ministry.
In July we plan to hold a " Family Fun afternoon" with games, food and an evangelistic talk. Last year we tried it for the first time and nine families came and enjoyed the fun.
Our memory work this year has included learning verses from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapter 6) and Psalm 100.
Each week the children are given a small card with that week’s verse and a simple explanation to help them learn the verses.
We believe in the importance of helping the children to learn Bible verses because we never know how the Lord will use that knowledge in the future.
We have a team of 7 workers, all committed Christians, and our desire is that boys and girls will come to trust and love the Lord Jesus Christ for themselves.
If you know of any children aged 5-11 they will be made very welcome on Mondays 6.15 - 7.15 p.m. September to July (during school term times).
